CONFIRMED: Super Eagles Only AFCON Team Without Official Traveling Fans

1 Min Read

The Nigerian Super Eagles are the only team at the Africa Cup of Nations without officially accredited traveling supporters from their home country.

It has been confirmed that the Super Eagles Supporters Club did not make the trip after the Sports Commission following its unification and takeover of the supporters’ group announced that there were no available funds to sponsor the journey.

As a result, Nigeria will compete at the continental tournament without the usual organized fan presence that typically provides vocal support and color in the stands. This development places the Super Eagles in a unique and concerning position compared to other AFCON participants, all of whom are backed by officially supported fan groups.

The absence of traveling supporters raises broader questions about funding priorities, fan engagement, and institutional support for one of Africa’s most successful national teams, especially at a tournament where crowd energy often plays a significant role in momentum and morale.
